This work began by mining ideas from Nude Pixels (2021), my first collection on OpenSea, which explored the notion that the closer you look, the less you see. With In Proximity, I wanted to push that concept further, beginning with photographic abstract figuration that gradually dissolves into individual pixels as the viewer moves closer into the work. The squares are hand-painted before being translated into a coded, dynamic composition. The piece sits between photography, painting, and generative motion, using technology as a tool to extend the idea of pixelation beyond a static image. This work was my investigating into how far an image could dissolve before its subject became fully abstracted, and where, within that process, the figure might still remain perceptible.
