CA Class 3 is a family of cellular automata (CA) drawing algorithms. Each algorithm generates a pattern procedurally from the top row down using a simple set of rules. The top row of cells is seeded using the fxhash id, and a drawing rule is chosen at random. The drawing rules themselves never change, but variation across the color palettes, cell sizes, and rule set selections produces a variety of textures.
Class 3 cellular automatons produce randomness. All of the class 3 rules’ patterns are self-similar - lots of little triangles and branching patterns of varying sizes - but they do not repeat or settle into orderly behavior. They are analogous to irrational numbers like pi that go on forever.
