Just recently I saw a girl creating a mosaic out of broken glass. I really liked the technology. I’ll describe it briefly: Broken pieces of glass are taken and polished on a grinding machine. Then each processed fragment is wrapped very tightly along the edge with copper tape. These elements are used to create mosaics or a chaotic pattern. Next, molten tin is applied to the copper tape using a soldering iron. Cooled tin on a copper strip forms a dense metal frame where the glass is fixed. The result is real stained glass. The process itself seemed meditative to me and this inspired me to create such art.
