ENCOUNTERS

Encounters is an ongoing body of AI-generated video works built from fragments, short, self-contained moments that resist resolution.

Each fragment holds a tension. It feels grounded, but something does not fully settle. You can enter it, but not completely.

The work begins not with images, but with a field, a set of conditions that shape what can emerge. Within that field, I navigate latent space, allowing fragments to appear. From there, a process of selection begins.

Most fragments are rejected. Some hold.

What remains are moments where two states of reality coexist, where something feels both familiar and slightly unstable at the same time.

When placed together, these fragments form a perceptual field. The work is not in any single image, but in how they behave in relation to one another, how the field tightens, opens, and holds.

There is no narrative resolution. No clear event.

But something persists.

Encounters invites the viewer not to interpret, but to remain inside a space that does not fully explain itself.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work explores what happens when perception encounters something it cannot fully resolve.

I build fields first, sets of conditions that shape how images can emerge. Then I enter latent space and navigate within those constraints, allowing fragments to appear.

A fragment, for me, is not a scene or a shot. It is a moment where reality holds, but not completely. Something resists. If it becomes too clear, it collapses into something familiar. If it becomes too abstract, it loses weight.

So I am always working in that tension.

The process does not end with generation. It continues through selection, what I think of as the gate. At the fragment level, I ask whether something feels real, slightly unstable, and resistant to immediate explanation. At the field level, I look at how fragments behave together, whether they create different kinds of tension, or simply repeat.

Most things do not pass.

The goal is not to produce images, but to recognize what feels necessary.

For me, AI is not just a tool for making. It is a space to enter, one where images already exist in some form. My role is to shape the conditions, navigate that space, and determine what belongs.

I am not trying to tell stories.

I am trying to create encounters. AI generated music and sound design by g0naji
