Soil&Woman
With the transition of human beings to settled life, agricultural activities intensified, and these activities differed according to geographies and cultures both in production and consumption.
In all stages of the agricultural production process, from the storage of seeds to the cultivation and harvesting of the products, are generally carried out by women.
Since agriculture in Turkey is mostly done on a small scale, production is generally done with family.
The invisible labor of women in agriculture is the most intensively used labor from production to consumption today. However, this reality is rarely spoken and seen.
In the "Soil&Woman" collection, I tried to reveal the place, value and contribution of women, especially in the family economy.
In this collection, I share the women and soil themed photos I took in different parts of Anatolia between 2017 and 2021.
