I found an abandoned town doing research about a road trip I was planning. It wasn't until three years later that I was finally able to visit this town left in the ruins. The town reached its peaked population of 1,052 in 1910 and has steadily declined ever since. It’s rumored there were black eyed kids scaring the locals. Many believe this why the town has been all but abandoned and is one of the reasons I wanted to visit it, not that I believed it, I just thought it was a cool story. The town High-School was erected in 1912 and served the town until the 1950's, the town the was unified with another school district about 20 miles away, and even more people started to leave their old lives behind. Last data acquire about the population of the town was in 2019 and it shows an approximate of 108 people currently living in this deserted land. The school is the only "tall' building still standing after a tornado that destroyed most of the town in 2004. When we made an entrance from the side of the building I saw this little guy sitting in the corner of a dark room and he immediately called me over to photograph him. Then I saw a pencil next to him full of dust and spiderwebs and a story was created in my head about how this pencil and teddy bear once belong to one of the kids that used to go to this school, which made me kind of sad because at one point they meant something to somebody and from one day to the other they were forgotten and left behind.
