Process: Versace’s sunglasses ad campaign kept popping up in my Twitter feed, so I ended up grabbing one of the images, painting on it, and glitching the whole thing. Created in Procreate Pocket on iPhone for manipulation, painting, and layering. Minted on the Tezos blockchain and listed to the Objkt platform as an exclusive 1/1 on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. No AI was used in the creation of this artwork. #MADExHUMANS

BIO: New York-based GenX artist GAWD grew up with the work of Haring and Warhol and a soundtrack of punk/hardcore music. With roots creating graffiti in the late 1990s followed by the Lowbrow Art movement - published in 2012 alongside other Pop Surrealist digital artists - GAWD adopted the pseudonym in 2014 creating evocative work that brings the street to the studio (and now the blockchain) through paint, typography, pop imagery, and punk sensibility.

GAWD's repurposing of highbrow fashion and luxury imagery (serving as connective cultural tissue) colliding with snarky lowbrow typography fuels bold, brash social commentary with a nihilistic bent. Each work challenges us to question ourselves, the world around us, and our place in it.
