I found it interesting that these mallards ducks would come over to this log to hop out of the water and take a nap. They did it more than once as well. The mother duck was always standing closest to where people could get. Many people in the area just like the ducks because they are cute and would feed them bread (please don't do this!) so they were used to people. However, she still stood watch over her flock of ducklings.

Conservation Facts: Because the mallard can cross breed with nearly every other type of duck, some fear that this will cause a complete hybridization of certain species of wild ducks and could result in their extinction.
