Work with the Kodak digital cameras allowed for content to be produced and queued for Year of the Glitch while the exploration of other processes took place.

Databending, is an intentional corruption of a source file by opening it in an editor developed to process files of type than that of the source. The most basic form is opening a JPG in a text editor and altering the contents of the file as text, then saving and re-opening as an image. More advanced editors, like hex editors, can open any file as hexidecimal and ascii (text) data which allow for specific bytes or strings to be searched, replaced, copied and pasted.

Such a process produced works like 023 of 366. A theme that emerges in the studies that produced Year of the Glitch, is starting from almost nothing, and building to something complex. What emerges in the practice is the use of iterative processing, performing multiple passes of different combinations of techniques, to achieve an interesting composition that has depth beyond the pixels.

Processes are themselves material in so far as they have symbolic capacity as gestures. Certain processes can become metaphorical in nature, producing both a result which evokes a range of possible metaphors and an index to what it could mean when applied to specific subjects.
