Zisis Bliatkas (Greek, b. 1992) is a painter whose practice examines how digital images translate into material form. His work is grounded in painting yet incorporates MS Paint and other obsolete software as core materials, questioning painting's surface and material support.
Bliatkas was born in Thessaloniki and holds a degree from the School of Fine Arts in Florina and a postgraduate diploma from the Athens School of Fine Arts. He has also pursued postgraduate studies in Systematic Philosophy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.Since 2025 he has taught at the School of Fine Arts in Florina, and he lives and works in Naoussa, Greece.He is a member and curator of En Dynamei, a collective of artists with and without disabilities.
In 2021 Electric Artefacts highlighted his Wide open NFT, an MS Paint composition of a bird amid fire and red splatter, as an example of bringing an obsolete tool back with an elaborate new technique.He has presented solo exhibitions at OKAY Initiative Space and Rebecca Camhi Gallery in Athens and at Lydian Stater in New York, and shown in group exhibitions at MOMus, the Institut Français, and the Hellenic Foundation for Culture.His solo exhibition “Forecasting” ran at Rebecca Camhi Gallery in Athens from March to May 2025, alongside the group exhibition “Technofetishism: Whip it into Shape” at MOMus Experimental in Thessaloniki.In 2026 he took part in “ONX Showcase”, Onassis ONX's first digital art exhibition in Athens.For “Still Wet”, a 2026 group exhibition at Galerie Met in Berlin curated by Kika Nicolela and Ruizhe Liang, he described painting's surface as “the imperfect crust of the world” and named his cross-medium approach “Post Brush”.
