Zeblocks pairs Guillaume, a digital designer with a background in traditional art, and Sebastian, who began working with computers at age eight and later worked as a full-stack developer. Since 2020 the duo has made on-chain generative art on Ethereum, ranging from grid-based pieces built with animated SVGs to an immersive virtual reality artwork. Their first project, Unigrids, uses animated SVGs on the blockchain to generate unique grids and tiles.
Unigrids was featured in the Art Blocks lot of Sotheby's “Natively Digital” auction in June 2021. Their next work, Beatboxes, released in August 2021, is the first fully immersive virtual reality artwork on the blockchain, built using Aframe and comprising 841 rooms designed as a virtual escape from reality. Sensthesia, made in partnership with Fingerprints Studio, is a collection of generative artworks that use a viewer's microphone as input to create live, audio-reactive visuals rendered in the browser while the underlying script remains on-chain.
