ZafGod (Romanian, b. 1993) is the moniker of Alexandru Zaharia, an artist working across painting and digital media in a bold, eclectic style he calls Future Mixed Media. His work explores the eerie textures of everyday life and mortality, moving between the transcendent and the mundane. Born in Piatra Neamț, he lives and works in Bucharest and has been active in NFTs since late 2020.
Zaharia holds a bachelor's degree in graphics and a master of fine arts degree in painting. He began minting NFTs in November 2020 after discovering OpenSea while looking for alternative ways to sell his work. His process, he has said, is trial and error and freestyle work he compares to improvisation in music, mixing traditional painting techniques with digital tools until a piece feels resolved. He has said he is drawn to the sense of presence a space can hold, a physical sensation that feels almost like an entity.
