yungwknd is an artist and smart contract creator based in Seattle, Washington, whose work ranges from generative on-chain abstract art to performative blockchain pieces and realistic drawings made with code.He discovered generative art and NFTs in late 2020 or early 2021, after a friend introduced him to Art Blocks and Dmitri Cherniak's Ringers, while he was working as a professional developer.
His first project, Carbon RainDrop, combined generative art with smart contract writing. He donated half the proceeds to Offsetra, a carbon offsetting organization, responding to criticism at the time of NFTs' environmental impact. In Generative Morning, a 2021 on-chain SVG piece, the position of the sun in the sky shifts throughout the day based on the Ethereum block timestamp and the collector's local time zone. For memories of portugal, made in the fall of 2022 after a trip to Lisbon with his girlfriend, he wrote a custom contract that let each bidder choose a trait of the finished piece. Bidders could set the color palette, style, density, or motion of their eventual artwork.
In 2022, he took part in “Artist and the Machine” at the Seattle NFT Museum, a show of generative and AI-collaborating artists that also featured Pindar Van Arman and Aaron Penne.In December 2023, he released fifty-five fake runs through Noble Gallery on Art Blocks.In 2024, he began offering collectors museum-quality physical prints of his NFTs through Verisart's tokengated print service, including for Melt Into Pepe and Melt Into You.
