Yinkore (Nigerian, b. 1998)is the artist name of Oghenerume Ohimor,,whose work explores intersectionality, representationand the lived experiences of Black women.Self-taught, she began making digital art in 2017 and is based in Ontario, Canada.She turned to digital art after a medical issue left her unable to paint traditionally, first experimenting on apps on an iPod Touch before building a full digital art practice.
As a dark-skinned, Black, bisexual woman, she says stories like hers are rarely told, and she uses her art to resist the silence such identities are often taught to embrace.Her work draws on her Nigerian heritage, celebrating cultural elements such as patterns and clothing. “My art is definitely a celebration of a lot of my heritage, to be honest, the women.” She often works from photographs as references, incorporates pattern work and 3D modelling, and prints her exclusive pieces on large canvases.
During a 2022 Adobe x Meta Angels artist residency, she created To the Beat of Liberty's Drum, a piece contrasting a figure's movement with rigid surrounding lines to depict the struggle toward self-acceptance. As part of a WILD XYZ Season 0 residency, she released As Above So Below, a 100-piece collection portraying Black women in detailed clothing across ten thematic clusters that trace stages of healing. Drawing on her own healing process as a queer Nigerian woman, the collection sold out within three days. In 2025, a residency with FEED Media Art produced Threaded Lineage, a series honouring the tailoring skills passed from her great-grandmother to her grandmother and mother, and reflecting on the gap left when she did not continue the tradition herself.
Her first exhibition was “The Sabi Exhibition” in Abuja, Nigeria, in 2019.In 2022 she took part in “Unsigned”, a collection of 100 signatures by women and non-binary artists organised by Operator and Anika Meier and shown on a digital billboard in Los Angeles.Her public art has appeared on a screen in Times Square, New York, in 2022, in collaboration with Iham Gallery.She has also released blockchain-based work on Ethereum and Tezos.
