Xidong Luo is a self-taught fine art photographer based in Shenzhen, China. She specializes in mirror fantasy featuring a combination of self portrait and still life, expressing the transient beauty of life, the built-in female pain, and the profound connectedness between women and nature. Luo’s creation is deeply rooted in the traditional Chinese philosophy Taoism, which claims that “Heaven and earth coexist with me, and all things and I are one (物我合一)”, implying the interconnections & interdependency between all things in the universe. The inspiration of using mirrors came from the Chinese idiom “镜花水月”. Literally it means "flowers in mirror and moon in water", which is a metaphor of the UNCERTAINTY, UNATTAINABILITY and NOTHINGNESS of life itself. Visually, it adds more dimensions and emotive weights to the creation in a sense of surrealism. _____________________________________ Honors of Excellence 2023 | Honorable Mentions of the 20th IPA, USA 2023 | Shortlist of HAMDAN BIN PhotoAwards ( HIPA ) , Dubai 2023 | NYC4PA < One > Online Group Exhibition, New York 2023 | 2nd place of Monovisions Award, London 2023 | 4 * Honorable Mentions of JMCA(Julia Margret Cameron Award) 2023 | < MONOCHROMES > Exhibition by LoosenArt at Millepiani, Rome, Italy 2023 | < 40th Center Annual > Exhibition at HCP, Houston, TX, USA 2023 | < Poetic Storytelling > Exhibition at Praxis Gallery, Minneapolis, MN, USA 2023 | < Black & White > Exhibition at Decode Gallery, Tucson, AZ, USA 2023 | Nominee of Fine Art Photography Awards, London 2022 | Honorable Mention of Monochrome Photography Award 2022 | 2*Honorable Mentions of Tokyo International Foto Awards, Japan 2022 | 2nd place & 3*Honorable Mentions of IPA, USA 2022 | Finalist in 2 Categories of HAMDAN BIN PhotoAwards , Dubai 2019 | < Fashion & City > Exhibition at MJH Gallery, Shenzhen, China 2017~2018 | Jury and Speaker of China Portrait Photography Awards 2015~2016 | 7*Silver Awards of WPPI, USA 2015 | 2nd place & Silver Award of WPPI, USA
