"The Broken Portraits" is a series of abstract self-portraits created with natural materials and a slowly decaying scanner. Mortality has always fascinated me. Discovering this scanner in my fatherβs house opened a door to explore the boundary between decay and permanence in a new way. Each image incorporates found materials such as seed pods, fish, flowers, clay, and sand fragments captured and abstracted by the failing technology. With every scan, the scanner dies a little more, fracturing pixels and glitching images, leaving behind a unique fingerprint as it fades into oblivion. "The Broken Portraits" stand as a testament to its existence and demise, each ephemeral capture now immortalised on the Bitcoin blockchain, the most permanent of places.
