Viola Rama is an artist who works across photography, artificial intelligence and 3D tools, exploring femininity, identity and posthumanism. In Hyper Venus (2022), the artist combines her body with wigs, props, gadgets and beauty products to become hybrid, strange creatures. Synthetic Muses (2022–2023) is a series of AI-generated portraits that draws on science fiction and begins from photographic self-portraits. Beautification reprocesses self-portraits of the artist using beauty gadgets with AI, producing surreal bodies entangled with exaggerated machinery. Suggested for You is a visual inventory of the personas and objects that appear in the artist's social media feeds, particularly Instagram's Suggested for You feature, and of how AI-powered technology can perpetuate gender stereotypes.
