Vincent Law (b. 1975) is a visual artist based in Hong Kong who works across photography and generative software. He began posting photography on Instagram in 2013, focusing on minimalist images that juxtapose architecture with silhouetted human figures. Using generative applications, he distorts, subverts, and reforms his photographs. He started minting abstract geometric artwork in 2022.
His project Hello The Photo is a street photography experiment built on unscripted encounters with strangers, in which he often appears only as a subtle shadow or reflection. In an artist statement titled The Slow Shadow, Law writes that his slow, observational approach to art reflects values he held before he encountered the book In Praise of Shadows. He treats patience as a way to notice small details rather than a limitation. In sankaku, he translates memories of nights spent among a crowd dancing to a DJ set into kaleidoscopic triangular patterns that repeatedly form, rotate, and dissolve.
