Victor Mosquera (Colombian-Canadian, b. 1990) is a painter whose narrative-driven, surrealist works explore the human experience and the unconscious through layered compositions, luminous color, and a recurring cast of figures. At the center of his practice is a meditation on displacement, shaped by his emigration from South America to Canada as a child.
His visual language draws on traditions ranging from Renaissance and African ceremonial art to Pre-Columbian sculpture and Japanese woodblock prints, alongside the visual language of film, video games, and illustration.Before turning to painting, Mosquera worked as a concept artist and illustrator in the entertainment industry, including as a concept artist at Ubisoft's Toronto studio.,His clients included Universal Music, Tor Books, Orbit Books, and One Pixel Brush, and his work appeared in 3D Total Prime: The Definitive Digital Art Collection and ImagineFX magazine, among other publications.He also created visual work for musicians and media, including ODESZA, Kid Cudi's 2019 Coachella performance, Dirty Heads, and G Jones, as well as a project for The New York Times.
He debuted the solo show “New Lands” in Los Angeles in the summer of 2019. In 2021 he released Blossom on TIMEPieces, where he also invited fellow artist Oscar Mar to join the platform.Between 2021 and 2024 his work was shown multiple times at Christie's in New York, including in “Trespassing”, “Cartography of the Mind”, and “Beyond The Screen”, as well as in “Harmonics” at Gana Art Nineone in Seoul in 2023 and “Unbound” at CICA Vancouver in 2025.
