VES3L is the code-art practice of the artist Vincent, who writes algorithms that generate emergent complexity from the interaction of simple, rule-based elements to produce generative art. Vince is based in New York City and earned a Master's degree in Computer Science from New York University in 2021. He has published long-form generative art collections on Art Blocks, Verse, and fx(hash).
Vince took his first steps into generative art in 2019 with a long-form study of fractal trees and the variations that could emerge from them. That idea grew into Seedlings, a 199-edition generative collection released on Art Blocks in November 2022, in which fractal trees bloom alongside abstracted flowers, suns and moons. The collection was inspired by an appreciation for green spaces that developed after years of living in New York City, and a quarter of proceeds above the resting price were directed to organizations supporting the preservation and development of urban green spaces.
