Vanezuva is an interdisciplinary artist and cultural researcher working across video, sound, photography, painting, AI and blockchain.Of Venezuelan, Panamanian and American background and based in the United States, she examines resource extraction and digital power across the Global South and its diasporas, merging her own photographs, field recordings and paintings with surrealism and abstraction.
Her practice draws on a background in human rights education and more than fifteen years designing community-centered programs in museums, schools and public institutions. She treats institutions and technologies such as AI and blockchain as material, examining what they omit, distort or erase and reintroducing human care through interactive archival and participatory platforms. She often works from the idea of the “sur (real)”, also the title of her series SUR (REAL), to examine how global power structures shape perception and material conditions.
Her project AIRWAVES: Ripple Effects is a hybrid media work about how information moves, fractures and accumulates meaning within digital systems shaped by power, attention and control. Collectors who mint an AIRWAVES edition can contribute their own media through a submission portal, and these contributions become material for further installations and an extended film.In one 2024 piece from the broader AIRWAVES body of work, AIRWAVES (c3ns0red) II, she described it as an abstract reflection on censorship through modern communication channels. Her work has been shown at NFT Paris in the Grand Palais Éphémère and, across 2024 and 2025, at Art Basel Miami's SCOPE Art Show.
