V5MT is a digital artist and motion designer who creates animated illustration, motion graphics and seamless GIF loops, specialising in animated stickers for social media and apps. Working since 2010, they have also explored pixel art, drawn to the aesthetics of low-res 8-bit and monobit graphics and especially dithering. This fascination began with an early admiration for Francoise Gamma and Nicolas Sassoon.
In 2013, their piece ¥€$ or N0T appeared in the online exhibition “MON3Y.US”, alongside roughly seventy international artists responding to the theme of money. The piece was a Designers Republic album-cover-style animation of monumental metal currency symbols, morphing like Newton's cradles or molecular diagrams. Their GIFs have been viewed more than 18 billion times on Giphy.
