Bio

Utuququ is an artist who works primarily in ink on paper and ink on cotton paper, producing drawings built from small, repeating marks.^, In Mouvement Perpétuel, they describe the repetition of a sign as a sensation of movement that leads them into places they had not perceived before. Across the body of work, recurring themes of memory, origin and childhood surface through short texts the artist pairs with each drawing.^,

In Origen I, the artist writes: “We are beginning and end, made of mistakes, we create and transform, one dash above the other, we always repeat ourselves.” Antenados traces memory to the earth itself: “From the depths of the bowels of the earth come our memories.” Aqui returns to the place of birth, describing a presence tied to land: “I relive the moments clinging to the land where I was born.”

Jardin looks back on childhood, described as “scribbles of my life that grow with my soul.” In Attonito Ruotò Sfilato, the artist writes of returning to one's origins and of the repeating circles that form a life: “Along the way we sew a fabric, then unstitch, then join. We create many circles in our life, new lives.” One work, TRNC_001, was made as the cover art for an album by trónco, a musical collective from Genoa.
