urbandrone is the alias of the architect and media artist Zaki Jawhari, who has researched the sensitive perception of space since 2007.,His series Architecture in Motion turns data, organized and processed by the machine under simple, repetitive rules, into procedural digital landscapes and abstract architectures.,
Jawhari grew up in Morocco until age 19 before moving to France to train as an architect, and traces his artistic identity to his Greek, Moroccan and French heritage. He discovered the visual programming library vvvv in 2006, a tool that reshaped his artistic practice, and the title of his architecture degree project later became his stage name. Before turning to Architecture in Motion at the end of 2020, he spent fifteen years as a creative coder in live events, having started his artistic career performing live at electronic music festivals and producing interactive digital experiences. He began posting the resulting work on Instagram, and started releasing it on hicetnunc, a digital art platform on Tezos, after a client project studying a metaverse gallery for an NFT platform led him to discover blockchains.
His piece Casablanca Focus 1 was described as evoking the sea and sun of Casablanca while its passion for architecture writhes through jagged monotones.Alongside Architecture in Motion, his series on Tezos include TransFormation and DIATOMS.His presentation “Networks” appeared as part of the group exhibition “II by alterHEN”, presented by members of the alterHEN collective. In June 2025 his piece TransFormation The Last Tree featured in ACTZ Commissions' Architecture-themed edition, a Tezos auction initiative, alongside work by Ferdoropeza, NUBPLUS, Mariana Ju, and Angeles Franco.
