Unnikrishna M Damodaran, based in Kochi, India, is a visual artist working primarily with digital media, using code, typography, digitally hand-drawn images, and organic abstraction. His work is built around recurring visual elements such as organic lines, swaying threads, and abstracted English and Malayalam letterforms.
As a schoolboy, he collected soap wrappers and packaging designs, an early fascination with visual language that shaped his later practice. He studied Applied Arts at the College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram, before working in advertising, and began making digital art on a first-generation iPad before moving to Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, JavaScript, and Processing. While based in the Middle East, he created Meanwhile In Kerala, a satirical visual commentary series reacting to current events in Kerala, publishing installments through 2019 and 2020.
After hearing in March 2021 about Beeple's $69 million Christie's sale, he began exploring NFTs and went on to put his own digital work on the marketplace Foundation. His early NFTs include Recreational rings in Mars!, inspired by Elon Musk's remark that people should be nicer to each other, and It's all God's Plan!, drawn across 25 frames while listening to Drake's song of the same name. That year, he showed 101 canvases at “Lokame Tharavadu”, a Kochi-Muziris Biennale exhibition curated by Bose Krishnamachari in Alappuzha.,The portraits grew out of a 100-day daily drawing challenge that began at the School of Visual Arts in New York, and he repeated the challenge three times. He later made a Number Portrait Series in Malayalam and a Malayalam Writers Series, which opened with a portrait of O. V. Vijayan whose name he embedded within the artwork.
He went on to exhibit at Ars Electronica 2021 and NFT.NYC, and served as an expert panel member for the Julius Baer Next Generation Art Prize. In October 2025 he represented India at the Art Blocks Marfa Weekend in Marfa, Texas, showing Consumer Struggles, a site-specific installation combining physical consumer objects with generative visuals on LCD screens. The piece examines how capitalist systems and digital communication shape not just people's choices but their sense of beauty and pace of living, treating slowness and partial visibility as strategies of resistance.,
