The French artist Ugo Digi grew up in a village in Burgundy before settling in Lyon, where jewelry making, learned after years in the steel industry, remains his primary trade. He has worked in digital art since May 2021, moving from 3D design into what he calls “digital paint”, a style that also draws on glitch art and pixel art.
During France's COVID-19 lockdown he began painting, then discovered CryptoPunks through cryptocurrency and followed that interest into crypto art, at a time when reference points were scarce beyond CryptoPunks and CryptoKitties. He bought a powerful computer and taught himself 3D design to make NFTs, starting on the Tezos ecosystem. He describes Objkt, the Tezos NFT platform, as central to his practice, valuing its community of early Tezos collectors who first built around Hic et Nunc.
Ugo Digi also runs OK Digital, a curation project he maintains through Instagram and Twitter that has presented two curated seasons of around thirty artists across Foundation and Objkt, helping some release their first NFTs. He released his own token, $UGO, on Tezos with a supply of 69,420, framing it as a performance-art piece in which owning the token is itself part of the work.
His work has been included in Fakewhale's group exhibition “ART MARKET: The State of Digital Humanism” on Foundation in September 2024, and in Verse's “BANGARANG” exhibition.,He also collaborates regularly with other artists, aligning his style with a collaborator's before exchanging files to complete a joint piece, including work with nipetrov.
