Tyrone Doyle is a UK-based 3D motion designer and crypto artist who creates animated 3D artworks. He discovered 3D motion design in his final year of university, when a friend introduced him to the software Cinema 4D and Houdini. Doyle does not favor a single style, instead moving through phases such as a period of making artworks featuring bioluminescence.
Doyle sees non-fungible tokens as returning creative control to artists, since they no longer need to take on freelance work to make a living from their art. He has said that some artists working with NFTs earn several times more than they did from freelance gigs. Doyle is not drawn to social media, but he considers self-promotion necessary in a market with no intermediaries between artist and collector, saying “if you don't put yourself out there, you're not going to get seen”. He believes artists should create what interests them rather than what they think the market wants. He is also critical of attempts to rate and critique other artists' work. For Doyle, the story behind an artwork carries as much importance as its visual content. He pointed to Maurizio Cattelan's banana taped to a wall, which sold for $120,000, as an example of how subjectivity and narrative can matter as much as the image itself.
