Feransis (Indonesian, b. 1987) is a collage artist based in Jakarta, working online as tuhanzilla. He cuts up comic books and cartoon imagery into compositions he describes as funny and weird. He found the joy of making collages in 2018 and has since expanded into digital collage and 3D objects made on his office computer.
He graduated from Parahyangan Catholic University in Bandung, Indonesia, with a degree in social and political science in 2012. He is a member of the artist collective Lab Laba-Laba, which experiments with the celluloid medium, as well as the international group The Collage Club and the Jakarta-based Kumpul Kolase. His first solo exhibition, “Tertawa Terbahak-bahak Walau Kekhawatiran Selalu Mengintai Dari Sela-sela Gigi” (Laughing Out Loud Even Though Worries Always Lurk Between My Teeth), was held at Sunset Limited in Jakarta from June to July 2021.,It focused on his collage-making process as a coping mechanism for work fatigue and the bizarre behavior of society.
In 2020 his work appeared in “From The Sewers: a TMNT Inspired Exhibition” at Ben Frost Gallery in Victoria, Australia. In 2024 he took part in “Junk Drawer”, a group show presented by Superchief Gallery NFT at The Oculus in New York City and at the NFC Summit in Lisbon. The exhibition centred on the overstimulation of collage, framing the medium's crowded, reorganized imagery as a response to the visual chaos of modern life.
