Adrià Tormo, known online as Tormius, is a Spanish digital artist based in Valencia who works between geometric abstraction and the absurd. His compositions favor bold shapes and vivid colors, drawing on Cubism, Surrealism, and Constructivism while resisting easy categorization. He starts each piece from unplanned, freely drawn lines, rotating and flipping the canvas until a recognizable form emerges from the chaos.
Tormo grew up in Xàtiva, near Valencia, with no artists in his family, and only found the wider art world after moving to Valencia for graphic design school. Seeing Kandinsky's Circles in a Circle in person during his studies was, in his words, “like an explosion”, the moment he realized abstraction was possible for him.His training in graphic design gave him a grounding in grids, hierarchy, spacing, and color theory that still underpins his work, though he considers himself largely self-taught beyond it.He entered the Web3 art space within two months of graduating and has built his entire career inside that community since.
His collection Shapets began as wordplay on the blockchain project Shape, sparking a set of circular creatures, each based on Shape's round logo as a body. An initial 152 characters appeared within a month, growing into a full 620-piece collection sorted into Pokémon-inspired types such as Nature, Aquatic, Fire, Dragon, and Spectral. Shapets are released as blind mints, so collectors don't know which character they will receive until after minting.
For years Tormo vectorized every sketch by hand, effectively making each piece twice, until he moved to digital painting and let his initial lines stand as the finished ones. That shift produced The Art of Play, a collection that abandoned vector work entirely in favor of looser, more textured digital painting. In First of the Roll, a 2026 collaboration with photographers Alex Kittoe and Nevin Johnson, Tormo painted over the light-burned first frames of their film rolls to produce 275 unique works merging analog photography with digital painting. He has also worked on commission, designing 55 illustrations for a deck of playing cards for musician and YouTuber Andrew Huang.
