Tokyoluv, whose given name is Mac, is a Montreal-born photographer based in Tokyo, working in street photography and portraiture with a cinematic, cyberpunk-inflected edge.,His photographs are built from the artificial light and dense urban texture of the city at night, capturing the quiet drama of people in motion. He began his career in 2007 as a 3D artist at Ubisoft Montreal before moving permanently to Tokyo in 2022.
He has been photographing since 2009 and first learned about NFTs from other artists in January 2021. His influences include the films Akira, Ghost in the Shell, The Fifth Element and Blade Runner, along with the photographer Masashi Wakui. In March 2021 he minted his first NFT, Neo Tokyo, on Foundation, and that October he sold Polarity Shift for 10 ETH.
In 2023 he held his debut solo exhibition at NOX Gallery in Shibuya, a week-long show of Tokyo street work at one of the first Japanese spaces to present photography alongside NFT-native and digital art.His work was also included in the debut collection of Dangiuz's Antimatterworld, a zero-fee platform for sci-fi and fantasy artists, alongside 34 other artists.In September 2023 he took part in The Gateway: Korea, a digital art exhibition held alongside Frieze Seoul during Korea Blockchain Week, and in 2024 his work traveled to The NFT Factory in Paris as part of Tokyo Solid Paris.
