tinysoul is a game developer turned artist whose work bridges contemporary art, gaming culture and internet aesthetics. His visual language is rooted in Pop Surrealism, drawing on 80s anime, stop-motion filmmaking and the absurdist humor of Terry Gilliam's Monty Python animations. Working with imagery drawn from meme culture and online communities such as 9GAG and Reddit, he creates dreamlike vignettes, rooted in digital folklore, that explore nostalgia and cultural memory.
His interest in meme culture began with a chance encounter with 9GAG, where he observed humor transcending language barriers to create a shared visual lexicon. Sourcing images from his Discord community, he reshapes them into looping GIFs that turn fleeting internet humor into recurring characters. These characters form Level 1, a growing cast of absurd, surreal figures drawn from internet culture and meme lore, each stored as a unique 1 of 1 artwork. The series was presented at SOLOS gallery in November 2024.
