Tiago Charters (Portuguese, b. 1973) makes algorithmically generated drawings that a pen plotter machine produces autonomously on paper. His original algorithms extract properties, textures and characteristics from photographs and 3D models, generating a set of execution instructions the machine follows to draw each piece. He holds a PhD in Physics-Mathematics, teaches at higher education level, and lives and works in Lisbon, the city where he was born.¹
