Zoe Osborne is a Barbadian artist and designer based between Toronto and Barbados, whose digital animations tell stories of homesickness and escapism through Caribbean culture and architecture.,,Working under the name thezoekid1, she has made digital animations since 2020, exploring Caribbean symbolism and the experience of the Caribbean diaspora.
Osborne holds a Bachelor of Interior Design from Toronto Metropolitan University and has worked as both a physical and virtual interior designer.,She founded Mahogany Culture, a collective focused on the retention, documentation and celebration of Caribbean culture, which she uses to showcase Caribbean creatives.,
Her work A Dream of Home was covered by Azure Magazine as part of Toronto's Design TO Festival in January 2021. In 2022 she took part in “Surreal Dreams”, presented by SuperRare and BlackDove in Miami, and exhibited at the SuperRare Gallery in Soho, New York.She collaborated with the product designer Sydne Barnes on a 3D virtual pop-up for the brand Ethereal, referencing 1980s mall interiors alongside Caribbean culture and 1950s furniture design.
She was a resident of Elevate's inaugural NFT Residency Program in Toronto in 2022, and in 2024 held a residency with The Caribbean Digital. Her work has been featured in publications including Hypebae, Azure Magazine and Princeton University's Pigdin magazine.,
