The French artist Systaime, whose real name is Michaël Borras, created the French Trash Touch movement, which mixes low, high and pop culture with internet folklore such as memes, emojis and GIFs. His work remixes information, images and comments into audiovisual pieces that expose the language of the internet. In 2019 he showed the solo exhibition “H4ppy D33p W3b (Happy Deep Web)” at Watermans Arts Centre in London.
In 2014 his Bitcoin Abundance was shown in “Computers and Capital”, a net art show of Bitcoin-themed work curated by Erik H Rzepka and Wesley Yuen at Coinfest in Vancouver. It is a highly compressed YouTube video loop in which 90s PC video clips surround a rain of bitcoins. His video ʞooqǝɔɐɟ Dollars shows curvily rendered dollar bills raining over amateur video of tourists at a beach, under a sky of quickly cycling Facebook pages.
