Sutu (Stuart Campbell) is an Australian digital artist and XR specialist based in Los Angeles who has spent his career combining art and technology to create immersive, story-driven experiences.An interactive web comic illustrator and animator, he moved into virtual reality, augmented reality and, from 2021, NFTs, always exploring near-future cyber culture.
In 2016 he co-founded the augmented reality studio and platform EyeJack with the artist Lukasz Karluk, which has since onboarded more than 10,000 artists into AR. He has created commercial work for franchises including Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and Ready Player One, and designed virtual concert avatars for musicians such as The Weeknd, John Legend and deadmau5.,His immersive projects have shown at Tribeca, Sundance, Venice and SXSW, and he is an Eisner-nominated and Webby Award-winning artist who was inducted into the XR Hall of Fame in 2024 and holds an honorary doctorate in digital media.
Sutu began minting on Tezos in March 2021 on the Hic et Nunc platform, joining a wave of artists who moved from Ethereum for its lower energy use and gas fees. That year he created Neonz, a generative avatar project of 10,000 retro-futuristic characters that collectors could activate in augmented reality as neon signs and face filters through a connected app, part of a wider vision he calls the “Sutuverse”.In September 2022 he released BRAVE NEW CIRCUITRY through Fakewhale on Nifty Gateway.
