Sub Net is an anonymous new media artist project created in the fall of 2021 that explores the mirror stage of online identity formation.,The project challenges the promises, politics and power dynamics of technology and capitalism, broadcasting glitch-processed video, live streaming and social media performance across multiple platforms at once.,
In the series Reporting from the Ghost Cities of the Metaverse, Sub Net examines empty and ineffective metaverse platforms such as Decentraland through video, social media relational aesthetics and live streaming performance. The work critiques techno-feudalist fantasies by examining the siloing of creative possibility in real time, combining glitch processing with dialectical argumentation in text and sound. One part of the series was minted on objkt in March 2024 as an edition of ten.Sub Net's work appeared in the group exhibition “Divine Glitches, Profane Comedies” on Verse, presented by Sabato Visconti alongside Ras Alhague and Estelle Flores.
