Sturec, born in Izmir, Turkey, is a multifaceted artist with a background in industrial engineering.,She works across generative code, illustration, and AI-assisted image making, incorporating bold colors and intricate geometry into pieces that explore the human experience.,,,She entered the crypto art space around 2018 and joined SuperRare in 2019, among its early group of artists.
She chose to work anonymously as Sturec, avoiding being singled out as a woman artist in an early crypto art scene that was largely male, before later revealing her gender. Her generative series sail-o-bots, also known as SeaHams, comprises 750 works coded in p5.js and released through Art Blocks Factory. In August 2022 it recorded the highest secondary trading volume among the collections featured that month on Art Blocks Factory.A token from the series, sail-o-bots #513, was later included in Sotheby's 2023 Grails auction of digital art.She has donated all of the collection's secondary sale proceeds to mental health support.
In late 2020 she released Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, and Psychosis - Schizophrenia on MakersPlace, three animated works addressing mental health conditions. Bipolar Disorder draws on her own experience as a bipolar 1 patient, and the set donated 30 percent of its sales to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation. Her series Conflict, 19 editions made with Touch Designer and released on SuperRare, marked a shift from vibrant two-dimensional work toward a darker, more chaotic style, created during a period of severe rapid mood cycling. In 2021 she used the AI platform Playform to translate hundreds of her own MRI brain scans into the exhibition “My Brain on Drugs”, released on OpenSea.
