Stuart Batchelor is a London-based artist who works at the intersection of technology and traditional art, using data as a drawing material to blur the line between machine-made and hand-made images. Drawing on a background in visual effects, he develops tools that let a computer's procedural rules function like drawing materials, producing interactive, video and still work themed around nature, dreams and transformation.
Batchelor holds a first-class BFA in Computer Visualization and Animation from the National Centre for Computer Animation at Bournemouth University, completed in 2015. He also publishes research, including work with the British Computer Society, on combining code with physical and intuitive drawing to expand what computers can express.
