Marcel Giannoccaro, known as Strano, is a Montreal-based multidisciplinary artist who works primarily in 3D animation, using light as his medium and chiaroscuro and primitive shapes to explore the technological landscape with a sense of spirituality and melancholy. He studied Visual Arts and briefly pursued industrial design before co-directing a video production company while also making digital art, drawing on architecture, photography, cinema and sculpture.
In April 2022 he minted Free fall into the Abyss, built partly from public domain models and released in an edition of 20. In February 2023 he released INVERSE on SuperRare, a single-edition GIF of 100 frames built around the lines “Humans as machines, machines as humans, no turning back, we're in too deep”. His work has been shown at the Larsen Warner Gallery in Stockholm and auctioned through Sotheby's Metaverse.
