Stephen Ong is a motion designer and animator based in the United Kingdom, creating animated work for brands including Notion, YouTube, Discord, Amazon Music, and Ramp. He has collaborated with the composer Jon Hugo on animated pieces that pair motion with original music, including Desk Job, a 2023 open edition released on Manifold that depicts the daily routine of an office worker.
In 2024 the pair released Council Flat, an edition of 25 minted on objkt, of which Jon Hugo said: “the piece was a lot about noticing the symmetries in paths we take with others”. Council Flat appeared in a satellite show at the Becoming Art gallery in Jeju, South Korea, from September 5 to October 31, 2024, featuring artists who had participated in the “FuturaCanvas #0” exhibition in Seoul.
