Stephan Breuer is a contemporary artist working at the intersection of metaphysical tradition and technological speculation. His practice spans conceptual installation, generative systems and site-responsive works. His research around light and the immaterial began with his first exhibition, “Futur Absolu”, at the Imperial Palace of Compiègne in 2013.
Breuer trained as an actor in California, where he discovered American minimalism, including artists such as Dan Flavin and James Turrell.,At Compiègne, the main work was Prism Atemporal, a prism of pure light in the Salle des Gardes made with a video projector, a haze machine and Processing code. The prism cycles between white and gold, which he used to stand for immaterial and material reality. In May 2017 he unveiled Sun, a public commission and permanent work in the Franco-American National Museum in the Château de Blérancourt. In 2022 he introduced Amor Mundi, a project planned for the National Museum in Rome and for release as a collection of NFTs.,
In late 2023, 14 contemporary artists, including Breuer, exhibited new works on the Giza plateau for the third edition of Art d'Égypte. He presented the work live from the Giza pyramids in October 2023.His contribution, Temple ·I·, is an inverted golden triangle aligned with the summits of the three main pyramids. It uses POAP technology to record the presence of physical and virtual visitors, and a companion collection of 10 NFTs, Higher Consciousness, was offered for sale on DANAE.IO.In 2024 he published the Iconic Interface Manifesto, which traces the role of the image from sacred icons to algorithmic screens. His concept for the installation The Iconic Interface centres on a handcrafted frame housing a screen, where a conversational AI trained on his texts talks with visitors. Each conversation is designed to be archived as an NFT.In 2026 he wrote the essay “The Readymade Is Dead” for an issue of a magazine on spatial intelligence. He is also among the 137 artists listed in the book Collecting Art Onchain.,
