steganon is a pseudonymous generative artist whose name combines steganography and anonymous. He writes code that hides images and messages within his generative artworks, drawing on a data-concealment technique called steganography that he first studied in a college course. He has a technical background as a DevOps architect and holds a degree in computer science.
steganon began making generative art in early 2021, after discovering Art Blocks and studying the code of artists including manoloide and Jared Tarbell. His first NFT project was a derivative of Tarbell's Sand Traveler, which Tarbell authorized him to sell. His first sale, in July 2021, was five pieces from Friendly Abstractions, bought for the ABSTRACT Vault subscription project. He also released the 1-of-1 Flaming Tulips on Foundation. As his practice developed, steganon moved away from sharing works-in-progress on social media, preferring that collectors see only the finished pieces.
