Solimán López is a Spanish artist whose practice combines environmental DNA, artificial intelligence, data visualization and blockchain to store and transmit memory across biological and digital systems.His work treats data as an artistic material, turning records of humanity's impact on Earth into aesthetic experience rather than analysis.
In 2023 he developed Manifesto Terricola with the MIT Media Lab and biomateriality researcher Viven Roussel, a text on humanity's environmental future divided into five conceptual blocks and encoded into DNA. The DNA sequence was tokenized on the blockchain, then bioprinted into the shape of a human ear, referencing the severed ear of Vincent van Gogh and the ear Stelarc implanted in his own forearm. The sculpture was buried in the Arctic permafrost of Svalbard as a time capsule.
He is the founder of the Harddiskmuseum, a repository for contemporary thinking.In 2026 he presented Aeolia, curated by Roberta Bosco, at the Instituto Cervantes in Madrid during ARCO Madrid, exploring data, environment and digital ecosystems.,That spring he also exhibited NEONUMENS, on the body as a tool for addressing planetary and universal issues, in the group show “My Body Language” curated by Olena Yara.For Art Dubai Digital 2026 he presented IRIDIA, based on a kilogram of iridium, which proposes a new periodic table whose elements are AI agents built collaboratively around topics proposed by international participants.That year his work was also shown in the group exhibition “Updating Codex” at Plateforme in Paris.He has exhibited in more than twenty countries, including at the Centre Pompidou, MAAT Lisbon, IVAM, the Brazilian Digital Art Biennial, Ars Electronica and ISEA, and was included in Peter Weibel's 2017 exhibition “Open Codes. Living in Digital Worlds” at ZKM.,
