Paul Seidler is a Berlin-based artist and researcher whose work focuses on economic systems, decentralized programs, and computation. He is a founding member of terra0, a collective of developers, theorists, and artists. Their project gives a forest its own economic agency: a smart contract lets it sell its own wood and use the proceeds to buy new land, expanding its territory.
Seidler formed terra0 with Max Hampshire and Paul Kolling, and in 2018 the collective installed Flowertokens at the Berlin space Trust, a piece that demanded such heavy maintenance that it was shut down after its plants overgrew the structure and began to wither. terra0 was included in “New World Order”, a Furtherfield-curated group exhibition that toured from London to Aksioma Project Space in Ljubljana. The collective later applied to GnosisDAO for funding to continue the project, but the proposal did not pass.
