SHL0MS is a pseudonymous artist working mainly online, blending performance, conceptual art, and viral provocation to challenge conventional notions of artistic value. Active since around 2017, SHL0MS treats the internet, chiefly Twitter/X, as both medium and stage for hoaxes, provocations, and NFT releases that test where the artwork ends and the internet event begins.
In 2021, ® collaged the logos of every Fortune 100 company into a single image, framed as the first NFT to contain the intellectual property of major corporations and offered as a direct test of fair use. Later that year, FNTN reimagined Marcel Duchamp's Fountain as a ritual: a readymade sculpture physically smashed, its shards filmed in rotating close-up and sold as a collection. SHL0MS names Marcel Duchamp and Yves Klein as influences, pointing to Klein's ritual-based sales of immaterial space as a precedent. SHL0MS is frequently compared to the artist Pak. In 2022, CAR filmed 999 fragments of a Lamborghini Huracan detonated in a remote desert location. SEED paired generative images with 155 seed phrases drained, with explicit consent, from each former owner, presented as a work of digital performance.
