Shaderism, the working name of Arttu Koskela, is an algorithmic artist and creative developer who builds real-time generative artwork using web technologies, working with interactivity, simulation and audiovisuality. He began his career in visual effects, creating simulations for award-winning advertising campaigns before pivoting toward real-time graphics.
He released Blind Spots, a series of abstract, intimate portraits rendered as glass sculptures and visually inspired by Iittala's Kaleidoscope exhibition. Each portrait combines two elements, a hidden core representing consciousness and a radiant glass shell representing constructed personality, and was his first work to pair high-resolution print rendering with the real-time animation central to his practice.
In June 2024 he released Looming Emotion, a 400-edition series with Vivid Gallery. In February 2025 he launched Inflatables, a fully on-chain generative project on Bitcoin Ordinals inspired by inflatable balloons, in which each piece animates using real-time Bitcoin blockchain data and can be set to revisit earlier blocks in the chain's history. Each token is linked to seven others in a “soulmates” system that unlocks a special trait when paired tokens are held in the same wallet. The collection was released as a free mint, with 400 pieces airdropped to his existing collectors and 400 more made available to the public.
