Seohyo is a South Korean artist who creates installations and performances that combine everyday objects with digital technology, and generative animations.,She draws on geometry, mathematics and natural structures to develop a motion-based visual language rooted in code, transforming ordinary things and urban rhythms into new visual patterns.,,
Seohyo teaches creative coding as a professor at the Samsung Art and Design Institute in Seoul.Her practice has also included media literacy education, through a Creative Computation class exploring the possibilities of coding. She began working in generative art during the pandemic, extending a daily coding practice into a variety of animations that are either mathematically imagined shapes or forms drawn from nature. These animations have appeared on digital billboards at sites including the Korea National Museum of History in Seoul and Incheon International Airport. Seohyo has taken part in events including the “Seoul Mediacity Biennale” in 2008, the “Asia Triennial Manchester” in 2011 and “Demo Festival” in 2022.
