Schmrypto is an NFT collector, curator, and producer who began collecting NFTs in May 2021 after work in traditional painting drew him toward the 1/1 digital art scene. He curates the Central Hall of Schmrypto's Museum of Anthropogenic Crypto Art (SMOACA), an on-chain museum of human-made crypto art divided into a Temple for 1/1 works and a Courtyard for editions.
He has said he is planning a sister museum, Schmrypto's Museum of Electronic Generative Modern Art, an on-chain space for AI and generative 1/1 works and editions. He has also described plans for a physical museum to house a personal collection of vintage generative art from the mid-20th century. As a collector, he has said he weighs an artist's consistency over time as much as a piece's aesthetics, noting: “Show me an all-time great artist with a tiny portfolio; you can't.”
In 2025, Schmrypto served as producer on Schmaints, a series conceived and executed in 2022 by the artist Chris Rocca with developer OmbraRD shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The series takes its cue from Christian Borys's Saint Javelin, itself an homage to Chris Shaw's Madonna Kalashnikov, and is framed as “ready-made symbols of resistance for a digital age”.
