Scerbo, born Giuseppe Solinas, is an Italian artist based in Biella whose practice moves between photography, digital painting, and artificial intelligence to explore the body's relationship to existence. Coming from a background in programming and philosophy, they turned to photography and digital painting in 2019 as the most intimate means of expressing abstract, existential ideas.,
Their first minted work, Photogravity, debuted on SuperRare in March 2022, and their photography since has increasingly transcended into abstract painting, pursuing a perceptual dissociation that separates seeing from knowing.,After returning to their native Sardinia, they began folding sound into the work, pairing each photograph with the sound of its own creation.The 2023 series Anti-crash grew out of a coding error during production, a restart message that Scerbo chose to build on rather than correct, turning the glitch into a response to the flood of data shaping contemporary life.,
In Out Ouch Pass (2024), the inaugural release in Fakewhale Gallery's Solo Series, Scerbo applied what they called “computational technological delirium” to interrogate digital identity and the risk of losing the aesthetic recognisability built up in their earlier work.The video artwork Narrative Underdevelopment explores mutation and technological prosthetics, framing the body as something increasingly fused with machines.At Art Dubai Digital 2026, Scerbo's work was presented through Pinksummer gallery as part of Nation 2.0, questioning the museum's claim to neutrality and proposing works meant to integrate into lived environments instead.
Before working in photography, Scerbo exhibited paintings, sculpture, and video in Italy through the 2010s, including at Paratissima in Turin and RossoCinabro Gallery in Rome. In 2019, “Waking Dream”, curated by Maria Abramenko, brought their photographic work to a Milan exhibition space, and in 2021 Scerbo held a solo show at Feelthestudio in Milan.
