Satoshi Aizawa (Japanese, b. 1987) is a generative artist who examines the beauty of autonomous systems through minimal forms stripped of cultural reference. His practice treats code not as a tool for simulation but as an independent agent that produces its own order.
Aizawa earned an MFA from Tokyo Zokei University in 2012.Since the early 2010s, The Path has been his long-running series of looping line animations that continuously redraw themselves, with individual versions released on Hic et Nunc and later Teia from 2021 onward.,
In 2024, Grey Path extended this investigation using Python's NumPy library as a homage to Hiroshi Kawano's use of Fortran in his pioneering computer art, producing grey fields that only resolve at exact scales.,The series was presented as part of “Patterns of Flow”, an exhibition at Feral File and NEORT++ in Tokyo revisiting Kawano's work.Aizawa has also made the NFT series BUDDHA VERSE, linking algorithmic image-making with Buddhist thought and raising questions about the ecological implications of blockchain platforms.
